App permissions & privacy

Why the app asks for Bluetooth, what it stores, and what it doesn't.

WARMWORLD asks for a small number of permissions. Here's what each one is for and what the app does and doesn't collect.

Permissions

Bluetooth — required. The whole app is a Bluetooth controller for the sock heaters. Denying this makes the app effectively non-functional.

Location (Android only) — required for Bluetooth scanning on older Android versions. Google groups Bluetooth-Low-Energy scanning under Location because, theoretically, a list of nearby BLE devices could be used to infer your position. WARMWORLD does not request, store, or upload your location.

What the app collects

Per the App Store privacy declaration, the app may collect:

  • User Content — text you enter in the feedback form
  • Identifiers — device-level identifiers used for analytics

These are not linked to your identity in Apple's terms. Google Play states the app shares no data with third parties and collects no data. The two disclosures diverge slightly — Apple is stricter about what counts as "collected" — so we report both transparently here.

What the app does not collect

  • No location
  • No contacts, photos, or files outside the feedback form
  • No login, no account
  • No advertising identifiers used for cross-app tracking
